Unlike other treatment models for adolescent treatment, the FFM is an all-inclusive treatment comprised of 11 interrelated components.
Multiple modes of treatment, including family, group, and individual interventions are used in the FFM and various forms of creative expression are promoted throughout the treatment process consistent with adolescent learning needs.
Trauma-focused treatment is incorporated into the FFM to recognize the propensity of trauma among justice-involved youth and to ensure that trauma symptoms are addressed as an essential part of treatment.
Specifically designed for adolescents aged 12 – 25 years and based on developmental needs related to the adolescent brain.
Cognitive-behavioral theory provides the clinical framework of the model tailored specifically to meet the unique developmental needs of adolescents.
