Results from an outcomes evaluation comparing the FFM with a traditional CBT relapse prevention model found the FFM to be almost twice as effective in reducing long-term recidivism among all adolescents with serious offending behaviors and demonstrated the efficacy of the FFM in treating adolescent sex offenders with a long-term sexual recidivism rate of 2.9%. The study which involved adolescent offenders in secure residential treatment followed the two groups three years following release to assess long-term recidivism (Calleja, 2022).
